Morning Circle Time

The most important period of life is not the age of university studies but the first one, from birth to the age of six. For that is the time when man’s intelligence itself, his greatest implement, is being formed.

I wrote this when we were doing homeschool preschool with Connor.  This is what we for our "morning circle time" we called it, and a lot of it we still do:

During breakfast- we read from "The Preschoolers Daily Devotion" book

Calendar-
Turn on "wee sing bible songs" and dance to a few songs
Put the number up for the day that it is
Say the month, day, year
Count the numbers up to the day it is
Sing the "days of the week" song and "months of the year" song
Talk about "today is, yesterday was, tomorrow will be..."
Talk about the weather of the day and the season we are in
Stand up, hold flag and recite pledge of allegiance
Spell first and last name
Point to our city, state and country on the map
Read the Bible verse of the day and related reading
Read the character building trait of the week (example: "H is for helpful", "O is for obedient")
Move onto our other learning activities...
